Excellence
May 11, 2011
Excelling at something means to do extremely well. Doing extremely well in your profession is essential in branding and marketing yourself. Your passion should drive the excellence that you fuel through your profession. Most people do not love their profession. Having the privilege of loving what you do for a living is a luxury in the first place, so striving to be excellent in what you do should follow. Take what you love and work to make what you produce great. This can be related to so many skills, professions, and hobbies but knowing what you love to do is the key.
Another way to define Excellence is to say that you surpass others in some respect or area. It’s almost like you have to be competitive to achieve excellence in this way. I really believe that competition can be a good thing as long as it’s healthy. It’s easy for me to get so competitive that it isn’t a good thing. When i say healthy I mean maintaining good sportsmanship whether you win or lose. All in all, it takes staying balanced and humble so that you don’t get too prideful of your work. You also don’t want to discourage yourself by putting yourself down all of the time. I hope you excel in your endeavors to pursue what you love! Take every opportunity to do so!
Respect
February 28, 2011
Respect is something that we should take into consideration each day. Respect can go really far when handling situations with other professionals. Taking heed to whatever your client or teammate says and respecting their view or concern goes a really long way. Just think what it would be like to have a client that felt that you disrespected them. There’s a pretty good chance that you’ll leave a bad taste in their mouth causing them to never use you’re services again and also telling others not to use you. Respecting others is a great way to start your brand as a person.
Not only respecting others but respecting yourself is also very important. If you allow others to run over you and take advantage of what you have to offer you’re then letting your guard down too much. Understand what you’re really worth, stay humble, and realize that there is a right and wrong way to handle situations. Don’t let your kindness become your weakness to someone else. So do your best to keep a level head and be productive. Don’t disrespect yourself by not understanding what you have to bring to any client or team. Do what you need to do to become better by respecting yourself and others, leaving you to only become a better person.

PHP
November 15, 2010
The topic related to database development that i really want to know more about is most definitely PHP. It is what i need to know about because it is so crucial when it comes to coding with HTML on the server-side of things. This too will give the BPA Web Site Design team a better shot at winning SLC with knowing this technology. To get a better understanding I’ll be diving into this learning experience starting with this blog post.
PHP is an open-source scripting language that is widely used. It is code that is executed on the server that generates HTML when sent to the client/browser. So basically what you’re doing when you’re using PHP is server-side scripting/coding. When Using PHP you will have to have three things running that will make PHP work. First off, you need a PHP parser which what makes the PHP work. Second, you need a web browser to see the results of your code from your server. 3rd you need a web server that is either hosted on your machine to test out your work or on a server that you have rights to access. This is some of what you need to know in starting to learn more about the Hypertext Processor(PHP).
Communication
November 10, 2010
Communication is a key ingredient in working together. We can see that communication offers the way to solving problems, working effectively, and making improvements to our work. We can use communication to ask questions, to answer questions, or to give advice. Communication is our path to using our resources. Trying not to take for granted all of the great minds around us.
Working efficiently and effectively is one of the most important things in the professional world. Learning to communicate with google is probably one of our most coveted sources of communication. All because we want to solve problems and to improve the quality of our work. Taking time out to ask for others to look over your work and see how you could improve on a project can help you to learn what you could work on. These are just some of the ways to help improve the efficiency of your work. Experiment with ways of communication to help you to learn more about your work.
Believe it or not we do have many valuable resources. Being someone who has the opportunity to go to a public school has productive resources. Your counselors, administration, coaches, and teachers have all been to collage and know people who can help you in many ways. Communication used correctly will only help us to progress as people and to truly learn more about our goals and to help us in achieving them.
Teamwork
November 10, 2010
In the grand scheme of things we need to know how to work with other people. Especially when it comes to business. When we learn how to manage others personalities, flaws, and assets to their personalities then we learn more about ourselves. Not only that but we know we can build real friendships this way. Dealing with others and being there for them through whatever is wrong with them.
Teamwork is like the answer for success. When you work with a team you can build on others ideas and thoughts to build a stronger team. Whatever the team has as a goal can be achieved with the right work and thought behind whatever is going on. The success will follow with whatever striving is done to do what it takes to achieve the goal. Teamwork beats one person all day long because a team will use each other as resources whereas, you have nobody to turn to when you’re one person.
Working in a team is like putting pieces of a puzzle together. You want to listen to what the other teammates have to say. You also want to communicate your ideas because everyone’s ideas are important. When we listen and can follow what others are saying we are acting as a team and learning from each other. Which in the grand scheme of things is going to pay off when we achieve our goal together.
Trustworthiness
September 30, 2010
Trust. reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, or assurance of a thing or person. Why is trustworthiness a professionalism skill? How can we relate it in our business and also daily interaction with people? Why would it matter?
What makes being trustworthy a “professionalism” skill? Well, it makes it a professional trait because with it comes good repercussions. If you’re honest with a client or customer and you know yourself that the client can trust you then you’ve done what you are supposed to do. Trusting in yourself to know that you’re going to do what is right for the client is the ultimate goal.
Does it make a difference whether or not I’m a trustworthy person? Why would it matter in the first place? This is where the sense for right and wrong come in. Would you be okay with yourself after you did something wrong even if nobody saw? Here is an illustration.. You are working your job by yourself cleaning movie theaters. You find a wallet with $100 in it and nobody sees that you picked up the wallet. Do think it would be right to take the money that’s in the wallet? Or do you simply return it to where who ever lost it would be able to get their money and wallet back? Trust in yourself to do the right thing and that’s when you will become an honest trustworthy person.
Choices
August 31, 2010
Choices, Results, Consequences. It all starts with a thought or idea. Once the thought triggers certain emotions it will become a desire. The desire turns into an action or choice. From there you will get your results and consequences. This definition of action or choices reminds me of one of Newton’s laws of motion. “For every action there is an equal an opposite reaction.” Whatever you choose or decide to do will have consequences. Cause and Effect. These simple facts can lead you to knowing the truth behind whatever you choose to do. Whether it be bad, good, or great.
No one can choose what you do but yourself. Build your own knowledge on what you should choose to do yourself. Knowledge that is in action is the knowledge that sticks. You don’t truly know something until you’ve used it and your able to teach it yourself. If you really want something. Go get it. Because if you really want it it’s got to feel like a need at some point. Like you can’t live or breathe without it. Stay positive and move forward. Take note of who is around you and make them positive people with you. Your influence should be just as influential as theirs. Now. Let’s go get this thing called success, shall we?
Photoshop Tutorial
May 25, 2010
So I have decided that image editing is a vital and serious part of building and maintaining landing pages and really any web page at all. That’s why i decided to go ahead and take the LAP that shows you all about Photoshop CS4 (and yes I am already outdated..).
Anyhow, I was assigned a project where i had to choose a Photoshop layout tutorial to build a prototype for a web page. I chose a layout that had to do with a dating agencies offer page. I chose this because it is in direct relation with some of the offers i have promoted in the past. This tutorial showed me a few things as far as using what i already know how to use in CS4.
Though this tutorial was created in an older version of photoshop, i could really see that there are many many times where you have to use layer styles. It seems like every chance you get to use a layer style, you will most likely use one. Also copying things into new layers with the move tool and using the organic shape tool to create things in columns was used a lot. I must say though, the most useful thing i have learned from this tutorial would be the constant use of the drop shadow. You see how much of a difference it can make in the way something looks. It just makes everything you apply it to look that much better. By giving text, backgrounds, and other objects a drop shadow you’re giving your project that contrasting difference between good and great.
Honesty and Integrity.
April 30, 2010
Honesty is truthfulness, sincerity, or to be dependable. Integrity is adherence to moral and ethical principles. Honesty and Integrity go hand in hand. They are synonyms to each other and go deep into the roots of people’s actual morals and values. This is a good professionalism skill because it can show that doing the right thing can keep you out of trouble that would not be caused in the first place due to simply being honest and having integrity.
Truthfulness is a quality all employers are looking for. It’s very rare that you will have a very truthful team in a corporate setting, or even in the world at all because it is so crooked and greed driven throughout all of the corporate business and dealings. Being truthful to yourself and others does no harm. You know you can’t make situations any worse then they are if you just tell the truth.
Integrity is a big professional quality in that you have to do the right thing no matter what the circumstances. When i think of integrity i think of doing the right thing even when nobody is watching. Make sure that you do what you have to do, not worrying about what others need to do. Integrity is a quality that will let one prosper professionally because integrity is doing what is right.
Time Tracker
April 9, 2010
There are so many AJAX applications that are to be used and taken advantage of. The one that I stumbled upon seems to be really simple in that it just tells you how much time you’re wasting or taking advantage of. The Ajax Application that I’m using is called the Time Tracker It simply gives you the ability to track whatever task you have at hand. So if you want to know how much time you’re spending on a project, rehearsal, review, practice, event, that is at hand. You can do it very simply with a helpful hand from your friendly neighborhood technology called AJAX.
This application lets you pause, add to your task to your rss feed, and to your web site. It has the ability to save all of the tasks you have completed so you can go back and review them and it has the ability to order the tasks in what ever order you want to, helping you to prioritize your tasks at hand and the tasks you have completed. There are many ways in which you can make this application beneficial. Weather it be making sure you’re not procrastinating, to see how much you are procrastinating, or to see what kind of progress you’re making and how much progress you aren’t making. It’s just a good way to keep some data for your progress rate.
